Not a "what car" but instead "why not car" ? MY2013 Lexus GS
Discussion
20k miles a year, mainly motorway (early morn, late eve, including one 380 mile return commute a week)
Quiet, refined, subtle image
Checked out the new Lexus GS, tell me why I should not buy one ?
I will be looking for a used car, so will take the edge of the deprecation. (and keep it for 3 years)
The only downside I have come across (other than the Alan Partridge thing) is servicing every 10k miles.

Depreciation still a factor but other than that no reason at all apart from theres nothing wrong with say a 06 plate GS used from lexus.
I like the look of the latest shape and the interior appears generations ahead of the equivalent merc or BMW.Deprecation is going to be a big hurdle to get over, I spent the last 3 years ruining a VW golf, which has cost me circa £2.5k PA in deprecation, I assume the Lexus will be closer to £6k per year (over 3 years)

Other options have been Merc CL (would have to get a 07 plate and fuel costs would be at least £1500 a year more than the Lexus)
Volvo v60, latest gen 5 series (not special enough inside), E class coupe, Merc CLS....

..Anything wrong with the Jaguar XF? I believe the reliability is much better these days and they still look lovely in my eyes. My father in law has just completed 12 trouble free months in his 3 litre diesel, which looks the dogs on its 19 inch wheels and with its goldy brown paint work. He paid just £26,995 for a 9 month old car with 6600 miles on it from a Jag dealer in Jan 2012. Car cost £40K when new and It was a cracking buy. I dont think you can consider the 5 series/E Class/Lexus market without at least giving it a once over?
