I desperately want another drop top sports car.

I'm all set to buy a ~£6k S2000 but part of me think I have some other important stuff to pay for this year (building a garden/drive/garage...).
I remember my old Mk1 Mazda so so fondly, by far my favourite car.

I'm just worried I might spoil it or it might not be as good as I remember 2nd time round.

Anyone done this? Did it go well, or did you regret it?

I can't work on my car on the garden. The axle stands sink right in.... hehe

You might have been spoiled since... move on mate. I have fond memories of my alfa spider but whilst i'd love to give one another go, as they are pretty cheap now if working, I fear i'd be very disapointed

Get the drop top mate, lifes too short not to enjoy yourself. Question is will you really regret not sorting the garden, driveway etc on your deathbed?! I doubt it! Most of my best life memories feature a Roadster/Convertible. Get it done before the prices firm up in spring

I've pondered the same thing - I had a standardish Mk1 MX5, sold it for a 250rwhp turbo one, sold that too but I miss the first one more. Is it just rose tinted glasses or was it really just as much fun?

I've done this a few times. Generally I remember the reasons I bought it and not the reasons I sold it. It rarely works out. That said, my current car (e46 330) is a re-visit from the past for me, however it's a lot better than my last one so it might stay a while!

Yes absolutely. I had a torrid love affair with a Land Rover which ended it running off with a mate (who then sold it, the git). I'd have another in a heartbeat.

I would love to go back to my old 306 Rallye. However I did go back to my Boxster, the same one I used to own, it was still as good as I remember.

I want my Celsior back... but they are rare as hens teeth in the UK.

A Euro spec LS400 won't cut it for me.

I look wistfully at ads for Series III Jag XJ6's, especially Sovereigns. Even though 18mpg nearly bankrupted me at the time. Maybe if I only drove it a little bit it would be okay.

There are a few I'd have again:
Citroen DS...only this time it would be a decent example and not a tea bag with leaky hydraulics.

Datsun 260Z...only this time it would have a decent engine and suspension upgrade

BMW 2002Ti racecar...same as before, please, on twin Weber 50DCO carbs, Alpina cam and Mahle pistons on a fully balanced and lightened bottom end with 200bhp in a strengthened, caged 700Kg shell.

Sunbeam Alpine Mk5...same mecahnically as before (Holbay engine on Weber 40DCOEs, Lightened and balanced), but in a non-rusty shell this time.

I'd consider another classic mini or another Renault 8/10 too...but only as a bit of fun.

I'd have another MGB GT V8 in an instant, also another Volvo 1800S.

Not sure if I'd bother with anything else. smile
