I have a small screw in one of the back tyres on my car. It's about 15mm from the shoulder so outside of the normal allowable area for a plug type repair. The tyre is only 6000 miles old and a 255 section Continental job so expensive to replace.

A place in Bradford has quoted me £35 to repair it using the vulcanising method, involves leaving the tyre with them for 24 hours.

The puncture must be tiny, it's taking a long time for the pressure to drop but it is dropping.

Anyone ever had one of these done? Any thoughts?

I've done it a few times. There is a place near me that does it for a tenner a go. They are doing truck tyres 24/7, so they throw mine in. Had at least two that did tens of thousands of miles after repair until the wore out, never had one fail.

I've never had a puncture repair of any type fail. Vulcanised repairs are fine.

There is a place just south of Fareham in Hampshire that does these too. Truck and JCB tyres are their main business.
