Another What Car (if it even exists)

Hi All,

I think I may need to move on from my hot hatch. My commute is 45 mins (90 worst case) each way and I drive all round the country at weekends visiting people. At present my Civic Type R isn't fit for purpose.

I'm not sure if a car meeting my requirements exists in my price range but I would be interested to hear any thoughts.

I would have laughed at the following a year ago, regardless the requirements are (in no particular order):

- £8k or under. (stretch to 9 perhaps)
- Not a hatch.
- RWD.
- Will probably need to be diesel.
- 45mpg + on the motorway.
- Under 80,000 miles.
- Air conditioning.
- Not older than 2006.
- 3 or 5 door.
- Less than 8 seconds to 60 (admittedly fairly arbitrary). The closer to 6 the better.
(- If it has built in satnav that would be a bonus)

All that stands out in my mind is a 325d or 330d, however I would be hard pressed to find a good example within £8 and it would certainly be a pre-facelift.

Why no older than 2006? I'd say anything of that kind of price has the potential for b0rk, a couple of years older won't really make much difference.
