Audi valet driver has crashed my car
Discussion
Urgh, sorry to hear. This is why I hate anyone i don't know driving my car, especially garages and airport parking places. That's up there in worst nightmare scenarios, I feel for you
Make sure they do you right by it at least! When the offer sounds about fair make sure you get a couple of free services thrown on top!
Hope you get it sorted ASAP

Not really. They crashed the car. No ambiguity. 100% their fault.

Milk them for it. They should at the very least give you a courtesy car so any inconvenience should be low.

The accident is an accident but cars are never the same once theyve gone in for bodywork.
True, they usually come out in better condition with the damage repaired. It's an A4 avant S line special edition.

No it won't be same imo, they rarely are, had a rear end in an RS4 and they effectively welded a new rear quarter onto it, pulled to one side so got shut. I'd be seeking a diminution claim if it will affect the retail value in future.
Unless the car is written off it will not affect resale. I'm also sure that the bodyshop are not staffed by ham fisted monkeys as suggested.Alfahorn said:

The 19"s are actually a very comfortable ride. I need to check the insurance position tomorrow as I will be without the car for weeks now and I bet Audi will only consider me to be insured not the other half.

That is not entirely true, if the car has been repaired and someone asks then you should inform them of the repair and it can affect resale value. Diminution claims exist and are sometime necessary imo. What is Diminution in Value?
Diminution in value can occur when a vehicle has been involved in an accident and consequently repaired, particularly if repairs were structural in nature. Diminution in value is the difference between the price someone would obtain if they sold the car immediately after repairs had been completed and the price he would have obtained on that date if the car had not been involved in an accident. It is a measure of the reduction in value even if it has been perfectly repaired.
You should be aware that, subsequent to an accident which is not your fault, you may be able to claim for the fact that your car is worth less after accident repairs than it was before the accident. You cannot claim diminution in value if the accident was your fault on your own vehicle.
Diminution in Value occurs immediately after the accident damage has been repaired. From that date, the motor car has a diminished value which remains with it for the rest of its existence. The diminution does not arise upon the sale of the car.
It is my view, therefore, that the damages for Diminution in Value to which a plaintiff is entitled is the difference between the price the plaintiff would obtain if he sold the car immediately after the repairs had been completed and the price he would have obtained on that date if the car had not been involved in an accident.
