The cynic that lives in my head tells me a local tyre garage hasn't been making much money of late.

Still, appalling behaviour. I hope whoever did this gets locked up - or forced to replace every tyre by hand, and pay for the privilege of doing so.

Having been waiting 1 month for my new tyres and being told earliest available is possibly 8th - 15th March if this happened to me I think I would have to start a hunt for the culprit and then would end up doing time in HMP.

You would have thought that while doing that many cars over three streets, presumably taking some amount of time, that someone would have seen/heard something.

Quite what would possess someone to do such a thing however is another question entirely!

I know the area very well, and have several friends who live on those streets. One of them wasn't targeted, the others I don't know about yet.

Do car tyres make no noise when they're slashed then? That's serious commitment from someone to go down a whole street doing it.

Right, I've got an old beat up shed Transit, cloned number plates, just half a dozen of you with shotguns needed. Bring your own sandwiches and flask of tea. And night vision glasses!!!!!!!

Det Insp Joe Saunders, from Wiltshire Police, said: ""This is a large-scale incident of criminal damage and one we are taking extremely seriously.

"The offender or offenders have been brazen in the sheer number of vehicles which have been damaged early this morning."

He said they received the first reports at about 03:30 GMT but believe the attacks may have started at 02:00 and continued until 05:00.

So the POLICE sat on their backsides for an hour and half then ?

I had all 4 of my tyres done on my Stang! Absolutely gutted. My partner has a run around and he had two tyres done also.
All the nicer cars in the street were done but funnily the rubbish cars were left alone. It is just crazy! I hope they catch them!

Must admit that was my first thought, but a load of older vans in an industrial estate were also done! So goodness knows. I heard rumour the car park of the local hotel was also hit. Would have to be several people I would think! It was more than 3 streets that have been affected!

Probably some kind of mental illness.

Its a shame they don't have garages to keep their cars in.

In a similar vein. In a part of Swindon only 1/2 mile from these incidents, although about 7 years ago I caught a few lads going down the street smacking the wing mirrors of parked cars, luckily the just folded mine in but a few were smashed. Legged it when I had a go. I phoned the police who couldn't send anyone out for 45 mins, even though the police station was a 5 min walk away, suppose everyone could have been out though.

How much noise they make depends on how you cut them. A stab with a stanley knife will go flat quite quietly and take a minute of two, but anything that makes a wider, longer or jagged hole will make a hissing noise, sometimes quite loud depending on pressure.

It wasn't me. I only slash my own tyres.

They'll be some CCTV, it's too big an area not to be caught somewhere. Chances are they'll be caught.

The courts will say it's not fair on them to be detained. They will be given 10 hours community service. rolleyes
