Advice on driving to Italian GP

I'm planning to take my Elise down to Monza for the GP this year and am looking for any advice on:

Good places to stay in Italy (that the car will be safe)
Is it sensible to drive to the circuit each day (is there reserved parking?)
Best viewing, grandstand or not?
Any tips to make the trip more fun - dos or don'ts?

I just got my tickets and booked a hotel in the centre near the station. I intend to get the shuttle bus to the track each day. I was advised not to drive to the track as its absolute chaos. Also most hotels near the main station and track are booked out already.

On seating, I once got an non granstand open area pass, but it was not great as getting a place where you could see was difficult. This time I'm in 6B (by the chiccane)

I stayed in Bergamo, and drove in, using the park and ride. It was quick and easy!

Stay at como, train in, free shuttle.

Or we drove right to the track last year from the north, about 25km. 40 mins in, about 65mins out. Was busy but not chaos.

Thanks, some great advise here. So is the train the best way to get into the circuit or is driving okay, even on race day? How about grandstands, any ones to avoid?

Our grandstand on the first chicane was great. There are loads of photos of the action on my write-up (above). Make sure you walk the whole track though - the spectating at the Lesmos and the entry to Ascari is astounding. Oh, and take plenty of water - it gets hot!
