Just wondering whether anyone on here has any recommendations on Auto Gearbox specialists? I want to get the gearbox on my Audi S4 checked out as it seems to have recently started slipping.

The box is not causing any fault codes (yet) but is getting worse so needs sorting. ZF list a few places but most are either Parts supply only or hundreds of miles away.

I've had a quote of about 3k + fitting for a replacement box from ZF but before I go that way I was hoping someone may have a suggestion for a trustworthy place, ideally with some experience of the ZF 6 speed boxes.

Just drive it until it breaks, shouldn't make a difference to the repair cost I don't think.

Actually used these guys years ago when I was still in the trade, very good from what I recall.

That was my original plan but it's really annoying me now and spoils the drive. Plus I don't do many miles so could take years to die completely... I think I'd rather spend a bit and enjoy the car again

Since you are in the east Midlands I can heartily recommend auto mechanical workshop near fosse park, leicester. I also got a few other recommendations in a post on the midlands sub forum, see if you can find it!

I had my auto zf box on my 5 series serviced at the above though, the guy is very knowledgeable, and very experienced. The place filled me with confidence when I went inside and saw built and part built auto boxes all over the place and a number of 'incoming' job sheets from several dealers in area. Everything from KIA to range rover

These guys recently changed the oil on my Jag auto box. Based in Kettering, they gave me lots of confidence in what they were doing.
