Time for a new battery for my mk1 focus. I see the existing one is made by a company called 'motorcraft'.

Is this a ford brand?
Anyone have a rough idea of their cost? - The ford parts dept. Is shut for the weekend and I can't find any prices online.
Finally, has anyone got any opinion of their quality?

Thanks.

Yeah, motorcraft is Ford. I wouldn't worry about replacing it with a motorcraft battery, just get something that's not too cheap

Bosch are definitely the best of the ones I've tried.

A vote for a Bosch Silver - comes with a 5 year guarantee...

Interestingly, my Mk. 4 Ford Fiesta had a Motorcraft battery in it when my Dad bought it new in 1999.

When he died in 2006, I inherited the car.

I then used it as my DD, until I sold it on in 2011 with 160,000 miles on the clock.

Still with it's original Motorcraft battery - which showed no signs of going off at all! Not bad - 12 years and 160k!

When I need a battery I measure the physical dimensions of the battery tray, check the post orientation and then visit my local farmers supplies place to buy the most powerful battery that will physically fit. Always cheaper than a 'normal' car battery and I've never had one fail on me yet.
