So, £25k is the price of a new Golf..

25 bags gets you a decent 3 car fleet by shopping used instead of new.

Car 1 - your daily driver
Car 2 - family wagon for doing family stuff
Car 3 - pure fun, kept as a hobby in your garage

What do you / did you go for?

Change the M5 to the daily and add an Octavia VRS Estate for the family for £10k and a Lotus Elise for £10k as the fun, job jobbed biggrin

Is this an 'I need your advice' thread or light-hearted pipe-dream type discussion?

Car 1 - Long distance hauler. Saab 9-5 Aero I figure 5k should get a decent one.
Car 2 - day to day run around. Mini Cooper S of some description. 7.5k
Car 3 - Fun - Lotus Elise. Remainder.

Being overseas this is all guess work, and if I was living back in the UK it would be in the centre of a city so would probably just spend 25k on a Golf GTI tongue out

I love the idea of doing something like that, more likely 2 cars personally but it's all the cost of running them all, 3 x tax, insurance, servicing etc. Though I wonder if the cost of an "eco" car for mon-fri would save enough money to fund the weekend toy? Man maths required!

BMW 335d m sport touring, Z4 3.0 and a Subaru Legacy B4 RSK, is what I have. All perfectly usable everyday, until it snows, then its the Subaru I tend to use.

Good thread.. Also shows how silly it would be to buy a brand new Golf at 25k! (Unless you're pretty well off and simply didn't care)

I can see the sales of new Golfs plummeting with such awesome alternatives within the same budget.

Great thread, I've mulled this over for some time

I would go

Daily - Clio 200 Cup £9k
Estate - E91 320d £8k
Weekend - Elise S1 £8k

I think these 3 would cover off all the bases for me, especially as the Elise could be nicely upgraded over time
