I really need to stop trolling the for sale ads online frown I find a Subaru Legacy GT online, "Ooo!" says the little voice inside my brain, "you've always wanted one of those... and its got leather seats, AND its only got 72,000miles on it"

Man maths ensued, and now I appear to have bought myself a new 4wd snotter just in time for winter and snow season (if I say it like that, it makes it a smart buy wink )

Place your bets now that it'll be a basket case rolleyes

Good luck.
Nice cars but they can be brutally expensive to run.
A new exhaust for my mates Outback cost way more than the car did.

Looks like fun.

Question is, how much?

In your poundage, about 900 quid, or 1600 NZD

with regards to parts, what on earth did he have to replace on his exhaust to make it cost that much! I can pick up a whole system for about 150gbp!!

I know that its gonna be a bit expensive to run, but it'll be cheaper than my WRX (i hope!!) To be honest, i wanted a non-turbo one for a daily, but for what i spent it would have had moon mileage on it!!,

Oh, and Nico, its a Fiat Panda wink

Full system inc. Cat and downpipe and there were no pattern options available when he checked with various exhaust places
Had to be a genuine system from Subaru, not cheap.
Car was around £1750, quoted price from Subaru for exhaust was more than that!

I suspect he could have had one made from scratch for less.
Not my car, obviously, just what he told me.
He had a number of other jobs done and the parts were always expensive.
As a comparison, a full genuine system for my V6 Mitsubishi Galant came in at around £900

For 1600 bucks its not bad!

Even if it drinks a bit ( i know New Zealand doesnt have the kidney exchange for fuel that we in the UK are introducing).

Run it about until your bored and flog it on...Or drive it into the ground.

Well, ive picked it, its got its foibles, but it goes well enough and seems pretty solid

This is after a wash. Ive NEVER seen a car so dirty. The outside wasnt too bad, but the inside was BAD! First run over with sponge left it black with dirt smile

Faults are, No stereo, random occasional flapping noise when hoofing it, the wash-wipe doesnt go and the top rad hose has a pinhole leak (luckily found that at the first stop!)

Other than that, it did the journey home alright, and handled the drive through test fine smile

You NZ bunch do seem to like your cars filthy. Any photos I see from my sister, where cars are involved, seem to show them at the end of a rally stage.

Nice buy though. smile

yea, new zealanders dont look after thier cars for the most part due to the amount of japanes imports we get cheap. Car breaks, get a new one so why keep it clean!

Im originally from the UK tho, so I have some standards wink
