Ssangyong Releases 11-Seater Korando Turismo

Ssangyong Motors marked the release of its Korando Turismo with a launch event at the SETEC in Seoul on Tuesday. The automaker has invested W180 billion over the last two and a half years to develop the 11-seater multipurpose leisure vehicle, the successor to its Rodius van (US$=1,088).

The new model is equipped with a 2000 cc diesel engine and delivers up to 155 horsepower. There are four rows of seat but the second and third can be folded up to create an extensive flat space in the cabin for dining or stretching out.

Ssangyong has set a sales target of 20,000 units this year, half of them overseas. The Turismo costs between W24.8 million and W35.64 million.

Getting into the very back row of seats looks like it could be a skilled process.

Yup. The limit is 9 seats on a car licence. I should think that for UK use the back row will be deleted - but that still means an eight seater with a hefty boot.

my neighbour bought one of these in 2006 because "they have a Mercedes engine but are 25k less than an ML"

within a year and a half the back of it had rusted and the suspension was up the left

I've been known to slag off Ssangyong in the past.

But fair play for the innovation.

Be a bit of a shame if they didn't at least offer the 11-seater as an option. Could come in handy for some people and don't you have mini-bus entitlement if you passed before 1997, as long as you're not driving for profit?
