Yet another what car thread....£2k
Discussion
Ok, its time to say bye to the e38 so im faced with a tricky situation.
I don't normally need to ask others for help in car choices, but im a little stumped.
The criteria-
Must have decent performance (rules out MX5)...under 7 seconds to 60
Must be £2k ish
No older than 1995
Fun enough to take on the occasional trackday
NOT a hothatch (really feel like ive grown out of them)
RWD prefered
Rotarys are silly
Any thoughts...what are my options?
All ive come up with so far is 328i sport(but I sold one 6 months ago) and accord type R

In that category the e36 328i coupe pretty much has no equal.
I've already had 4 bmw's that era (including the 328i, which was superb)...but short of an m3 I think i'd like something different. I'm kind of falling out of love with bmws slowly (im sure they'll win me over again one day)bmthnick1981 said:
Do I recall you had a 750il? If so why getting rid? I may be interested...
Without posting up an ebay link (I dont think im allowed) - getting rid due to one of the solid front-rear brake lines springing a leak, not all that much of a problem in itself (someone with £20 and handy with the spanners could fix, I did it on my e36)But, imminently finishing uni means probable longer commute and I just don't have any time to spend on the car now...straw that broke the camels back, so to speak.
Shame really, its been a bloody wonderful machine to use for the past 6 months, I'll miss it

You might get an E46 for £2k but it would be pretty ropey.
Your problem is the 'RWD' thing. Not many decent RWD cars left anymore, especially in that price bracket.
Yea, I think I could live with another FWD, or AWD, but only with decent handling - doesnt have to be light (i've just done a trackday in the 2.2 ton 750il), so long as it 'handles'. And no hatchbacksYour problem is the 'RWD' thing. Not many decent RWD cars left anymore, especially in that price bracket.
