OK, so last year I bought my Jag XF at a very good price (under trade money), and love it. It's a 2.7 diesel and I was doing around 300-350 miles a week in it. It's a great car, apart fronm the fact the engine management light has been on most of today, however I started a new job in January, and now do less than 100 miles a week (nearer 60 just to and fro work). So man maths says a V8 might be a possibility now.

Now, mrs Vince is ok with this, as I have swapped cars a lot over the years, sometimes twice a year, although at the time I get grief, it soon settles down.

Now this whole V8 thing won't go away, especially as today I went and had a quick look at a Merc C55 AMG, and loved it. Everything I want in a car, saloon, V8, loads of toys, full MB history.

So, do I keep the Jag, get it repaired and then remapped and run it for a while longer? It's done 124k and it's all good, I love the car. Or do I start a one man campaign for me to get a V8. The Merc is looking tempting, it really is.

Ideally a V8 Jag XF would be the car of choice, however they are too expensive still and I'd only have the value of my Jag to put into the deal (about 10-11k at a guess).

Help!!!

If you can stand the running costs then do it!
A V8 is an itch I really need to scratch...

Oh yes should mention the fuel consumption on the Jag is rubbish, my 6 mile comute gets me around 22mpg. All town work. The tax is the same, insurance similar, checked the trip computer on the Merc and it said 20mpg.

I guess the only problem will be the brakes/suspension on the Merc...

Only you can answer this question. But your man card will be taken off you if you don't get the tyre shredding V8. Bonus points are available if you man maths your way into a TVR Cerbera for the solution... biggrin

Dam I have no choice now do I? ha ha

I have been looking closely at the TVR S V8/Cerb/Chim but I suspect a second daily driver would be required.

It can be done. Seriously. Without special attention as well. I know it's a different beast, but there is a daily driver S6 car that is over 200,000 miles....
