Rattle Can/home DIY paint repair
Discussion
Has anyone here managed to bodge a repair using a rattle can?
I have some light scratches almost underneath my front bumper, so the end finish isn't too important, I just want it to look a bit better than it does, the scratches are light and not too big.
Looking on ebay, there are some kits for DIY paint repair, can anyone recommend any that will be matched using my paint colour code? Or anyone had past experiences with any?
Thanks!

Flat paint is easy enough: spray a slightly larger area than the repair and use fine wet and dry paper followed by cutting compound to blend it.
Metallic or lacquered paint is a nightmare though - best you can do "DIY" is get it all roughly the same colour and consider it a temporary repair IMO.

I have done. Depends on the damage and area. I repaired the front bumper on my 200sx a few years ago after hitting a large rock. Filler, sand paper, primer and top coat and the repair was good enough that I couldn't see where the repair had been done. Wouldn't like to try it on a bonnet though!
Bottom of bumper should be fine as it will get very litte light. Prep is the key. Light scratches = fill with primer , sand down with increasing grades of sandpaper then several light coats of top coat. Cut it with compound.
Heavy scratches = filler then same as above. I'm no paint expert but have painted a few bits and bobs with rattle cans e.g. bumper, splitter and diffuser. The more time you spend on it the better the finish.
If you completely mess it up you can take it to a body shop!
