BMW Tyre Dilemma - Advice Required
Discussion
Hi All,
I need some advice. I currently have a BMW 5 Series F10.
Current Tyres are Primacy HP ZP Runflat.
Car was recently at BMW for a vibration and it turns out one back tyre is down to 2mm in middle and 4mm on edge. clearly my alignment needs done too.
So as it stands my tyres are:
Front: 245/40/19
Rear: 275/35/19
Front Left - 4mm
Front Right - 5mm
Rear Left - 6mm
Rear Right - 2mm
option one - change the back rear right only for approx 350 pounds and wait for front two to require replacing in 5000 approx miles and replace with same.
option 2 - replace all tyres with Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 2 which would cost me 900 inc fitting (from the AA tyres, fitting at national) and this would allow me to sell the two front and rear 6mm tyre and recoup roughly 200 pounds back
Any advice on driving characteristics from run flat to non.

Two topics or so in the BMW section about tyres.

Hi Panda76 - Funnily enough I did see those threads a while back and made for interesting reading.
Curious to know how the Goodyear Eagle F1's would compare.
After reading your posts you mentioned I did go and try to look for "3rd" generation runflats however I have no idea what constitutes as a third gen, from what date etc etc.
On my 3 series I had bridgestones - which I actually thought were good. I have Michilen on my F10 right now and before the vibration I actually think it had a great mix of comfort and handling, however I think thats a lot to do with how BMW intended the car to be.

Make sure you get the tyre pressures right too, uneven wear can as often be down to pressures as alignment issues.
No idea about the F10 specifically, but the Eagle F1 assymetric 2 is a sensational tyre in my experience with them, comfortable too, I recall them improving the ride quality of the Golf I had them fitted to fairly dramatically over the rigid ditchfinders the previous owner had fitted.
