An organised event to sell your vehicle?

Private sale only, with promoted listings of all the vehicles on sale for prospective buyers to view prior to the event.

A known practise in a number of other countries but nothing like it here so I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

Thanks to all.

i did it once.. got 300 more then I expected (full asking price)
it was a mini event.. advertised at a price I thought was a little too much for the car in order to get what I actually wanted

Plus it give buyers a chance to have a decent look around the car

Sounds a very good idea for more specialised vehicles or anything collectable.

Scoticus, where was that event held? Glad you got full asking and there are a number of positives about this type of event, one of which you mentioned, that I can think of.

Thanks.

Aren't they called 'Auctions'? hehe

I think it is a good idea though, as above for anything remotely collectable or specialist definitely.

Yep, most cars with a scene, VWs, Minis, Fords etc... will have a sales area on their club gatherings etc... I nearly sold my Van at Vanfest and it wasn't even for sale.

It was at Bingly Hall.. cant remember the name of the event.. the car was in the car park with a For sale sign, the asking price and my contact number.. had numerous texts and calls all that day.. then a lovely lady called me and asked to meet me at the car.. she had a better look around and handed me the cash there and then.. good job I went with mates..

On a positive note for the seller I'd hope that this method would be more profitable than an auction wink An on site pre purchase check may provide some reassurance that the buyer is not picking up a complete disaster (not been to an auction recently - is this something that is available to buyers at auction?)
