What happens when you have a hand car wash on your road?
Discussion
Rubbish quite literally everywhere, ranging from cans, cigarette butts, latex gloves, papers, air fresheners etc etc. Also throw in drain issues!
Their main area is sparkly clean..why? At the end of each day they go ahead and use the pressure washers to blow all the rubbish out onto the road

Apologies for some very poor quality pictures.
It's shame I don't really have pictures from 3-4 years ago, it used to be a really spotless road.

I used to live on a side street off a main road. On that main road was a car dealership, once upon a time it'd been a petrol station. The car dealership shut down, so in its place came a car wash
Nice blokes, did a locals discount to keep people sweet. Downsides; 8am daily, 7 days a week, the pressure washers started. If you wanted a lazy lie in, forget it, it was just enough to be annoying. The water run off was basically onto the road, so if you walked past when it was cold, it iced. They did try opening up in the snow a couple of years ago, but gave up when they realised they couldnt get the water off cars quick enough before it froze, so a few people were sent on their way with half washed cars. Never saw that much rubbish being blown around

That's the strange thing about it!
They all smoke and throw the ends on the floor, so that's one part. Customers drink and leave that rubbish on the floor or around. Latex gloves again they use them, same for the air fresheners etc. Why they feel the need to blow the rubbish out all on the road is beyond me.
It's all very odd how they accumulate such rubbish from not actually really doing anything that could accumlate that much rubbish!
The last picture is what is behind their unit, closed of and 100% their own turf.

Yes it is a complete foreign set up with absolutely no respect .
Write to your MP and copy to your local Enviro Dept. Mention that you are sorry to trouble him, (you're not really, of course), but a letter to the Enviro Dept elicited no response/action and you cannot understand why, (although you can, of course).Come across as seeking his assistance and he/she will probably wade in. Councils don't like MPs getting involved.
Worth a try.
If you really want to close this place down I'd use a two pronged attack.
Firstly get the local council Environmental Health unit down on-site ( with a side mention to the local water board) as the car washing effluent should be first captured by drainage interceptors before any grey water goes into the drains thus preventing detergent and chemical pollution of the local surface water drainage. All this work will cost between between 10 to £20K which may make the business owners look elsewhere ( although the business, if busy, could probably carry that investment)
Secondly get HMRC to start an investigation, via grass you up .com ( whilst suggesting that there may be a few illegals working there for the Border Agency involvement) as 9 times out of 10 theres no tax, VAT or NI being paid.
Nothing gets the authorities excited more than the thought that there could be someone underpaying tax, and the penalties can be quite severe.
Next weeks subject will be how to close down the nail bar and tanning salons used by drugs dealers to launder their cash.
Cheers,
Tony

If nothing is done go to the local rag or write again and mention this
It does create rubbish.
There is an old petrol station in forest town Nottinghamshire that is a mr shiny.
Any rubbish in the car is thrown on the floor and blown into the surrounding area... Crisp packets, bottles, old air freshners... Alsorts.
I'm surprised the local council don't pick up on it.
