.2013 looks like it could be a vintage year for hot hatches. Proper small, agile hatches, not the overweight ones we've had recently such as the 1500 KG Astra VXR...

...Fiesta ST, Pug 208 GTI, Renaultsport Clio...

...which do you think will be the best? New Fiesta looks promising, Clio a bit ugly, but as a fast Peugeot fan I am really keeping my fingers crossed for the 208..Can they at long last produce a decent one?

The new Clio is too ugly to be the best. Its just horrific. As good as they tend to be I dont think I could be seen in one. Pug.......they are not back yet. Still think they have a long way to go to catch up the front runners.

For me the Fiesta ST will be top dog for all round package.

The fiesta wins on price, but I reckon the clio will be the best all rounder..

1) Renault
2) Ford
3) Peugeot

Renaultsport are always top of the market. The new Clio may be ugly, turbo, five door and semi auto but it will be the best to drive.

I dont understand PH sometimes!? I'd rather have heavier better equiped safer car than, some superlight tin box that has the structural strength of a bog roll inner! So i'd take the megane rs.....

This more than likely, fiesta is ugly, not sue how it will perform, 208 will probably be boring, clio is ugly and has a less focused gearbox.

The gt should hark back to some of the best hatches from yesteryear.

..agreed, but once you get beyond a certain weight, you sacrifice agility for grunt and grip. The three smaller GTIs I have mentioned are all safe in a crash but will come in below 1200KG (hopefully). Sorry, but 1500kgs is too much in my book for a proper old school style GTI.

No it shouldn't, unless you have the literary age of a 3-year old.

Hopefully the Fiesta will be decent, but it'll need a fairly comprehensive front end change from the regular model!

Because that's a hatch...

But tbf, I think I'd pick it over any of the newer big hatches

Also, I like the sound of the UP GT
