Hey fellow piston heads!

Since you gave me such great help previously i thought id post again.

I was down the pub last night and after a few a guy offered me his Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet (1986) for £800.

Obviously a bargain but should i be worried that he's offering me it so cheap? He says he wants to get rid of it really sharpish so i have to meet him in a few hours.

Any advice is appreciated.

Anyone had one of these? Are they as good as everyone says they are? Not really my kind of thing but i want to get it to impress the bird.

Three possibilities:

It's not a Porsche

He's just nicked it and does not have any contacts

Your post is spam

(Fourth possibility - he thinks you are an idiot and he can con £800 out of you)

I think you need to haggle hard on that price otherwise you'll be out of pocket come selling time.

This may be a better prospect -

She must like 911's then or your plan is destined to fail.

He's winding you up. Possibly because you're a wally. Too early to tell for sure. Post a bit more.

OP's a lucky guy - he turned down a Merc only to be offered this shortly afterwards. I feel there will be advice I could benefit from.

Meet him. Have £800 somewhere safe, and don't wave it around until you're confident the man is still as drunk and serious about the bargain. If it's real there is literally no reason you should not buy it.

I've been to see the car and the guy was serious and still up for it.

I'm now messaging you from A&E! Don't worry, it's not what you think.
There was a bit of rust at the back near the boot. I pressed it with my finger and my finger went right through it.
I've got a cut and the bird insisted that i went to the hospital to get a tetanus shot.

Anyway, apart from the rust, the soft top was missing and also one of the seats.
The paint work needs a lot of t&c but is workable.

I asked the guy for a test drive though and he refused, this is when i started to get a bit suspicious.
I had the money safely stuffed down my sock, don't worry.

I've taken a picture of it and ill send you it later, it's a right laugh!
