Given how many cars we recover on a daily basis due to careless driving it isn't actually such a bad idea is it. I suppose if you felt that strongly about it you could code it out using VAG-COM or something?

My Volvo displays a frost symbol at 2 degrees. No idea why? It's lovely and warm in the car.

My mini does it when it gets below 3, particularly useful if you have been driving for a while, internal temperature doesn't change so you may not be aware that the external temperature has dropped to a level that may cause a reduction of grip.
