For your £52K you can have an Alfa 4C or a Cayman S + £3.5K of options.

I'll start

Cayman S

you should have started a poll - otherwise this will become another pro/con 4C debate

I've seen the Alfa in the flesh, and I couldn't care less if the Cayman is a better car, the 4C is just stunning (apart from those front lights)

Has anyone driven either yet to make an informed decision?

For the record, I love Porsche, but from the pics the 4C looks hard to resist...

Given that nobody has any idea how good the Alfa will be to drive it is a very hard question to answer. If the Alfa is as good or better to drive then I would go for it, it will almost certainly be cheaper to run, hold its value better, it doesn't suffer from the still slightly dodgy Porsche image and I like Alfas.smile

I actually wouldn't give a st if it was the greatest chassis ever created.

The engine is still the biggest factor for me. It might be awesome, and sound great but i just can't see it. The flat 6 in the new cayman S sounds awesome and revs sweetly.

+1, Porsche flat six is too good to give up, even if the 4C is the best chassis ever created it still wont be that much better than the cayman to warrant chosing it.

I have driven the 8C for a few weeks and other than as a poster car its disappointing, I don't have great hopes for the 4C.

Buy the Cayman if you want to, I am just giving my view, I do agree that the engine in the Alfa may be an issue but I will wait and see how it is to drive before making up my mind.

I think the Alfa looks fabulous... but I'd have the Cayman. By a mile.

I couldn't say till I've driven the Alfa. I did drive the new Exige S (V6) last week though and I was astounded - it's the best everyday useable car I've ever driven and to better it, the Alfa would need to be quite some car! We'll soon find out where the Alfa's refinement levels pitch it in terms of competition. Mind you, my benchmark for a further refined everyday GT style car is also made by Lotus, not Porsche... Best of luck to Alfa though and let's hope the 4C spearheads a revolution for the Italian company driving
