As the title really, mine's been stored up over winter and was hoping to get the tax on it for April but with this bout of 'snow' I'm not sure whether to leave it for another month now?

Until the DVLA bring in a 9 month road license I keep mine taxed and road ready all winter. 6 months is just too long to not drive it.

Don't see what the issue is, I get 12 months tax and then when the car goes into hibernation just send the tax disc back and get a refund on whats outstanding smile

Get an older car entitled to a free disc, no problems then.

My Capri normally comes out of hibernation in April but this year it came out on the 1st of March to fill in as a daily for a few weeks.Picked it up on a lovely sunny day only to be coated by a gritter wagon on the way home and its now sat outside my work covered in snow, grrrr!

There needs to be something for limited mileage users, pay-as-you go or similar. £205 a year is a lot of money to do 1,000 miles annually. I am currently paying about £650 a year road tax for my household vehicles annually, which seems utterly unfair as all vehicles would cover 18-20k miles accumulative annual estimation.

I've been using the TVR all winter, just been careful when I took her out. Unfortunately today was MOT day, so now she is covered in grime/salt etc. Not brilliant, but at least she passed!

Always tax mine for 6 months from 1st April.

I missed out last March, as it ended up being one of the best months we had weather-wise. Not missing much this year though!

I don't wish to diverge the thread, but the whole road tax system desperately needs an overhaul because it's totally daft. Currently an old lady doing 3 miles to church every Sunday and under a thousand miles a year, or us with our weekend toys, pay the same road tax as a salesman doing 40,000 miles a year (or more in my case). Put simply, it's not road tax at all, it's a car tax. It's also a grossly unfair car tax, because I pay more tax on my 2-Eleven because of its emissions, when in actual fact my much greener daily driver is responsible for many more times the emissions because even though it's twice as efficient it does nearly ten times the mileage per year. The whole system needs scrapping in my opinion and the tax added to fuel, that way it's a fair road tax based on how much a given car uses the roads and pollutes the atmosphere. It's a shining example of why democracy fails - none of the parties we can vote for offer this system.
