Driving Experience day, what to expect?
Discussion
For a christmas prezzy parents got me a driving experience at thruxton to drive a Cayman and then a few laps in a single seater Formula Renault car then a drive by an expert.
Having never done something like this before I was just wondering what I should expect to happen and was it a good day?

You'll park up and find there are far more people than you expected. Next you'll sign in and head off to the driver briefing.
After that you'll get in the Cayman as a passenger for a few sighting laps. Next you'll wait for a free car to actually drive.
I couldn't be bothered to queue up for the single seaters and left. I was only really there for Murcielago.
You might see Tiff doing hot laps in the M3 too. You'll certainly hear the car if he does.

I was impressed with the Thruxton day I did; and the one my dad did several years later. The FRenault is awesome. Drive is as hard as you dare to get the most from it. Mine was rev-limited to 105mph which is very slow down by Thruxton standards but I had six laps and it was an awesome experience.
Get out, have a think about what you've just done. Then ponder that Damon Hill set the outright circuit record there at an average of 147mph. You'll look at F1 drivers and their capabilities in a whole new light.
Enjoy!

Right, one good one bad. Any more advances!
I want it to be a good day and I hope it is just don't want to get my hopes up too much and be disapointed.
I was 18 when I did it, first trackday and first experience of RWD so that's why I enjoyed it. If you've done a trackday or two, it would be a bit boring IMO as you don't have the freedom of an open pitlane trackday.I want it to be a good day and I hope it is just don't want to get my hopes up too much and be disapointed.

Mine wasn't meant to be a 'bad' review. Just telling it the way it was. My wife and I both had a good time there and would go back. I want it to be a good day and I hope it is just don't want to get my hopes up too much and be disapointed.
Well it's booked now (and it's a gift) so just go and enjoy it!!
I've heard a lot of bad reviews about some of these experiences (poorly organised, over subscribed, not getting the time in the car that was advertised etc etc), but it'd be wrong of me to tar them all with the same brush and I hope you're booked with one of the better ones.

Disappointment, if reviews I've heard are anything to go by. Not sure on this one specifically, but a lot of the supercar days sound like they have some right miserable, draconian instructers.
I'm sure yours will be excellent though.
