Hello everyone, im new to this forum but was reading it as not member quite often..
Now i already spent sometime on web to find exact situation im having but it's could be only me so fool biggrin
Recently bought a car from trader seller, somehow while busy talking he passed me yellow V5C/3 trade slip signed in Registered Keeper section and dated, i wasn't bother that time to sign it, thinking could do it later before sending off. Confusing bit for me is - i wasn't offered to fill V5 main form (can't remember i saw it all in his hands) the only paper i left my details on was a dodgy looking Used car sale receipt. I was given a copy of it with his name and address

So where do i stand now? If i will sign now the Trader box and put my own name and address in trader field (which wasn't filled in) what going to happen?? scammed?? ((

If I'm understanding this right, that's exactly what's supposed to happen. He's given you the new keeper supplement (one small tear off section) and sent off the main V5 himself.
Nothing wrong there.

not quite right... i was given V5C/3 yellow trader slip not the new keeper green slip.
This probably ok, but i have to sign now as a trader and fill his address?? i didn't put any details on other part of V5 only on sales receipt

Couldn't you just ring the seller? Might just be an honest mistake.

We met on a car park, he was talking a lot and main V5 never was mentioned..
Worst scenario for me then if he isn't honest?

Don't worry, V5 merely shows registered keeper, not legal owner.

Fill in a form V62, post it to DVLA with a Gregory for £25 and they'll issue a new logbook in your name.

well..(( £25 extra but price wasn't bad anyway )) and the car is good ))
So what is his original purpose? Is he as a trader save on tax or what??

Dare i ask how much you paid?, was it "cheap".

No sign of v5, met in a car park....

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, sounds like a duck.... Its probably a duck.

HPI checked? Do the VIN numbers match?

I hope this turns out OK for the OP but I fear it has potential to go badly wrong!

How cheap did you get it? Did you do a hpi check? check the VIN plates carefully. it could be nicked, csn you afford the risk of the fuzz taking it off you, leaving you with nothing?

Get a new v5 ASAP. If it feels dodgy and you cant get ur dosh back, then Sell/ trade in the car asap, sounds like it could be dodgy to me.
Hope it turns out to be a false alarm.

Isn't that only if the current registered keeper gives consent or doesn't reply after 3 weeks?
