Not sure if this is the correct place to post but here goes.
I've an 1.8d fiesta on a 1998 r reg with a non start problem.
I've put a new transponder on,new stater, new battery and still the intermittent starting problem.
When it has started it runs fine then next day nothing....
Any help is a god send i've two red chip keys.

I never did learn how the diesels worked. I think that it controls a fuel cut off switch in the pump and you can swap it for a standard one that just turns on with a live, is intermittent wiring to the pump the problem?

Ive tried everything, live direct to the starter nothing.
Im at a junction now,do i scrap it or keep trying to find the fault?
When it has run it's fine.I have the dreaded flashing light on the clock also which tells me an transponder fault but tried four different one's and nothing.

They used to suffer from broken wiring across the front panel, I'd be checking there.

I dont think that you can just run a live to a pump with the fuel cut off transponder thing, although I have never had to try it I was told they dont work like that. Think that you have to change a part in the pump for an earlier version to just run it with a live on off switch.

It's probably the PATS if fitted, did you have the keys coded?

I'm not sure whether it is a PATS problem then, whenever I've had that it's just not started but has turned over, I got a bit lost where you've live wired the fuel pump though

Right it all started with the car being hard to start,so i changed starter no cure.
Then after a while and turning the key it would start.
It would drive fine park it up and then return next day nothing again, was told faulty transponder by airbag man because of code 32.
Told him car runs fine when it starts so ruled out pump.

Now i bought another transponder same part no the whole nine yards and it started, but alas the next day nothing...
I have replaced battery also and this did not work either and the dash light on the clock
is flashing like mad so im now lost.

Auto electrician would be my next call I think, otherwise you'll be swapping bits and getting more into a problem than it might need

What used to happen is the pump loses communication with the pats module, the wiring breaks across the front panel, pull out the wiring and open it up and you can usually see the break.

Im guessing the loom where it runs near the headlights, pull it all out from there and trace the wires going to the pump and inspect them. Sounds like a good plan to me

The loom runs under the radiator, it's in that area. I used to be a Ford auto electrician, from memory the loom runs up from there to the engine and I think it breaks around there. It's been a while mind so just carefully check the wires which run to the pump.
