Not that this sort of thing ever bothered me too much, but I remember thinking when it first came out that the Nissan Sunny GTi-R had fairly small wheels at 14" for the road versions. I suspect few are still on that size these days though

That Porsche looks better than the normal over-wheeled monstrosities to me.

Being under wheeled is the greatest asset of that car!

I'll try and dig out a pic but my E39 rolls on 15's. Looks odd these days but it rides beautifully.

Eek - whilst the ride maybe amazing I think i'd prefer 15's at worst.

I'm going to defend the notion of "under wheeled" cars.

What does it mean anyway?

Too many cars these days are simply ruined by having wheels too large, or too wide, with compromised ride and handling as a result. UK roads are pretty crap and one of my pet hates are cars which lurch and tramline as a result of having fashion-victim wheels and tyres.

There is a lot to be said for having cars with higher profile tyres and smaller wheels sometimes. The fact is that, sometimes, they simply drive better.

This is the simple truth that dare not speak its name. The truth that bigger wheels and tires are not necessarily a good thing. The truth that skinny and tall can be better.

Underwheeled? Nah. I really could not care.

The trouble with what you say is that aesthetically the cars were designed around bigger wheels so they look lacking from a design perspective. If, for example, the cayman was designed with 16's in mind the design would look alot more resolved.
