as per the title - gettin a plan. Are there any with a sub 10 second 0-60? Absolutely standard, no chipping.

Thanks

Don't have any figures to hand as im on the phone but I can't think of many cars that would be under the 10second mark, the corsa 1.3cdti is available with 90bhp so would be my suggestion for a brisk small hatch diesel, but by no means fast.

There aren't that many 1400cc diesels to choose from. There are a few 1.6s that just about do 0-60 in 10 seconds.

Probably not, no.

I have a Panda Multijet, so it's the 75bhp version of the Corsa engine, and while it's no rocketship off the line (which I couldn't care less about) it has plenty of overtaking ability (which is hugely more relevant to everyday motoring).

Once moving, it has a surprising turn of pace. (And rarely does less than 55mpg!)

I have a 1.2 multijet Grande Punto and the 0-60 is 11.5 but to get one that does 10 seconds will take some finding possibly.

Fiat 500 1.3 tdi with the 95hp I think does 60 in 10.x. Dont know of anything quicker off the top of my head.

Best get on parkers or the like and do some research then!

didn't the 205 TD have a 9 point summink to 60 time?
recall a test in some mag in 199X where in their opinion was an almost GTI, tho I think engine was a 1500+

To be honest, you should be asking for the 'least slow' turbo diesel. I think you'd be better to look for something bigger or a small petrol turbo if you need a good 0-60 time (which you probably don't really). It is actually quite difficult to mix purchase price and performance with really good fuel economy (which a small diesel should give you)

Doesn't even need to be a turbo, my new daily hack (208 1.4, stop sniggering at the back there!) cracks it under 10. Not a diesel though and don't think any of the e-HDis below 1.4 can crack it.

ETA well over 50mpg too.

It was iirc a 1.9. And it never normally dipped below 10 secs to 60.

But back to the op, why a 1.4? It's not like that has much bearing on anything other than being relatively gutless.

Oddly, a 206 HDi 110 (1.6 turbodiesel) apparently did 0-60 in 9.1s.

The fastest 1.4 turbodiesel I have found so far doesn't crack 10s to 60mph, it's a 2006 Toyota Corolla D-4D 125, at 10.4s.

The Indian Royal Enfield. Equipped with a truly beastly 6.5hp and could get around 200mpg. No doubt it was painfully slow.

Pretty sure the 1.4d corolla was 13.3 according to honest john. The 1.6 petrol wad 10.2. Even the 2.0d corolla was 10.6. Getting under 10s is a tall order for modern diesel cars

Toyota missed a trick by not also doing one with "MUM" as the badge.
