Afternoon all,

I'm just looking for some general opinions on what my next car should be. I currently drive a 123d M Sport - lovely car, but starting to think it's time for a sneaky little upgrade wink

Options are, E92 330d M Sport or A5 3.0 TDi S Line, both are to be post 10 plate.

Your opinions on both would be greatly appreciated, i look forward to reading your responses.

Thanks.

330d would be my choice. The A5 design is starting to look a little old to me - which is disapointing given its age! Only concer would be the 4 series coming out and the impact on residuals.

Just save some cash and remap the 123d?? Or do you need a bigger car?

Personally neither. The beemers don't look as good as they used to, and the A5 has a cheap-shiit interior. I can see a massive gap emerging in that sector owing to the German marques over-cost saving and cheapening it because it's the sales-rep sector. The baby Jag can't come soon enough imo. The XF runs rings around the BMW and Audi on the interior and ride/handling. The new Jag doesn't really have to be that good to beat the competition anymore, but I'm sure it will be.

I don't think you could go wrong with either, I'd recommend test driving each and seeing which suits you best.

Personally I'd get a A5 3.0Tdi Quattro S-line auto and remove the dpf and remap yes

IIRC the A5 quattro uses a torsen instead of a haldex yes

A5 a cheap st interior, jesus, this is Pistonheads not changing rooms, what have we created here, a load of textured plastic obsessed Laurence Llewellyn Bowens, the interior is fine, what do you want, some scatter cushions and a Glade plugin, not a mention of the fact it is a bit heavy, a bit dull to drive and usually fwd, damn handsom car though whatever.

Really, a reality check is needed on this forum !

I agree with this, great car. More of a continent muncher than a back road specialist, but the M sports were always a little crashy for me over bumps (vs the true M specs)

Have a look at a low mileage SAAB 9-3 or 9-5, quirky looks and both look much better than the Deutsche equivalent IMO.

roflrofl:rofl Brilliantly put!!

Out of the two i would have the E92, im not a huge Audi fan, and the A5 does absolutely nothing for me.

Maybe interiors aren't your thing, but as that's the bit of rhe car I most often look at, it has to be at least good looking. The A5 isn't really, and along with the cheapo materials was the reason for the p-ex to the Jag. If the materials were better, I would probably have put up,with it.

Having spent 7 months in the Jag, has made me appreciate a how boring some German marques are inside.
