He's living his dream...how many of us would do it any different if we had the money.

Good on him.

It may be true, but the interview etc seems so contrived, it sounds like bullst.

What app did he make? Must be a well known one to make him £8.5m. So jealous.

Good luck to the kid. Made his own money.

Or big hoax?

I will mirror what the presenter said, "I love a success story" Best of luck to him.

We would of all done the same given the oppurtunity.

The comments on the video suggest he will be in a documentary, will be interesting to watch.

Does anybody happen to know what the app was?

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say it's a hoax. He has acquired three Ferraris as a result of cashing in from the sale of an app. So working backwards, he's needed time to obtain the three cars and use them extensively (according to him), he's needed to realise the earnings from his app sale, he needed to get Google interested. So how old was he when he wrote the app? Eight or nine.

If this lad had made £8.5m from an app he wrote before the age of 10 I feel we'd have seen more of him in the press before now.

Alright for some, I'd probably do the same. But it's still somewhat hilarious hearing a 12 year old sayig "I made 8.5 million"!

Fair play to him, it must be a popular app if thats the income he is getting from it

'I needed something for the track'

I don't get how you can be bright enough to create something of such worth - but stupid enough to spend the money on a fast depreciating asset which you have no real use for...

Oh yes I do - it's called "because nothing can ever have everything" factor wink

5-Star anyone?

Contrary to my above post im calling bks now.

As mentioned above we would of heard of a success story like this by now.

Here is another video of him aged 10 being interviewed by a complete tt. It also states that his grandparents bought him the car and at the very end as he climbs in the drivers seat to leave the video cuts, if this was genuine surely they would video him driving it or at least obtained some track footage.

I've dug around and cannot find anything beyond "sold an App to Google"

There's Summly but that was sold to Yahoo

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21924243

When there's talk of a documentary, my bullst radar tends to fly off the scale tho...

In terms of earnings, Apps can rake-in a lot of cash - one of the biggest right now is "Puzzle and Dragons" which is earning 10s of millions of dollars a month (and it's not available outside Japan/the US atm!!) - the (Japanese) company behind it is listed with a higher stock price than Nintendo right now...

The thing is that you don't sell apps to Google, you just put them on the Play store. It smells fishy to me.

Great story, and to be fair I think most of us aged 12 with that amount of money would have done the same!
He seems to like the word unique a bit too much though.

This. An everyday car? And what garage lets a 12 year old with no license test drive a Ferrari?

And there's a lot of unique in this video
