Evening all

I have received my 'Certificate of Entitlement' V750 for my private registration plate today
I have my V5C, photocopy of tax disk and current MOT certificate. Can I take these to my local DVLA office to get my permission to assign the reg to my vehicle or do I have to send them off to head office?

My MOT is expiring at the end of the month so bit worried about the change over time as I know DVLA Swansea are always backlogged

Thanks in advance

You need the actual tax disc surely as they issue a replacement with the new reg on it the old one is handed in.
MOT has a stamp put on it signed by the DVLA office.

That's as I recall it at my local office but that was a few years ago.

But if done by post that would mean you've lost your tax disk for up to 2 weeks?

The post was more of a question as to wether it can be done from going into a DVLA office or do I have to send the docs off by post?

My reply was based on going into my local office.
They issue a replacement tax disc. Stamp the MOT and give you the thumbs up to put the plate on the car if I recall correctly.

No need to post the tax disc, they'll send you a new one anyway:

Didn't the local offices stop doing this last month?

Ok so I phoned them up the documents must be sent to DVLA Swansea or you can drop them into your local office and they forward them on, but either way it takes the same amount of time

Think I will go into a DVLA office as I'd rather have my MOT certificate for my test next week just in case and dont want to risk losing my V5 :O

Just in case anyone is wondering I went into a DVLA office today and he kindly gave me the certificate to allow me to display my new registration

My MOT certificate was re printed with my new reg
I received a new tax disk and was told to destroy the old one
He has sent one half of the V5 off and let me keep the other half which is stamped to say I have changed the Reg

Also Admiral insurance have let me change the reg without paying the £17.50 admin fee, spoke to customer service/renewals and they did this for my and sent email confirmation of the change and no charge smile

My new policy with onlyyoungdrivers/aviva which is due to start on the 24th may be charging me even though my policy has not started yet which im not too impressed with, but shall see..

Shame they're closing all the local offices to make the service more efficient.

Which office did you go to?

Cancel the not-yet-started policy and take out another one.

Topic revival but relevant nonetheless. If it's no longer possible to do this at local offices, if I was to go direct to Swansea, are they able to action the reg transfer there and then? Or would I be as well posting the documents?
