Budget 8k but rather spend 6 or 7 if I can.
Car is for daily and Europe trips.
What would you buy and why?

For the 350z: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/n...
High spec. Bose. Comfort. Reliability. Newer. More for money

Against: slower, doesn't handle as good, lack of space (not very important although it will be onl car so sometimes space is nice)

For M3: faster, better for odd track day

Against: potentially costlier to run.

M3 if the running costs weren't an issue. Never really been keen on the 350Z.

Op - just had a think. If you want a "special" weekend car. Then one of these must rank up there.

Rare and unique, great looking and massively GRIN inducing biggrinbiggrin

Should be fairly cheap to run and maintain (barring fuel). And have very strong residuals.

5.4 litres of supercharged V8 goodness cloud9

This ones even claiming 520bhp!!! eek

E46 M3 all day for me although I suspect for your budget you might get a better example of the 350z.

350z is a fine car and will no doubt be the cheaper of the two to run but .. the E46 M3 is a great car with a masterpiece of an engine, great looks, quality build and handling.

definitely try SMG, personally loved it!

I like the 350Z but it would have to be the E46 simply as it has rear seats that are useable for passengers.

M3 all day long. The 350z will not be a cheap car to run, and that looks tidy for 6k. However that interior! Bloody hell!

Having owned both, if get the m3 all day. Driving experience on another level, and so much nicer to own. Just have a bit of cash left over just in case

The one I like at 7.2k is nice and SMG pump relaxed but no mention of the cracking/subframe inspection / repair.

I have more cash if need be, but don't see any benefit in buying a 10k plus example as the prices are all over

The 350 is so unspecial that even a 330 would be special - M3 any day of the week.

Thanks folk

Any alternatives in price range? I can't see any personally. As Harris said, bet bang per buck sub 10k...

E46 M3. It's a car built around the engine, and what an engine it is. The one in the 350Z is nowhere near as nice imo.
