I drive a Subaru Impreza and I would say 90% of other Impreza drivers will give a brief wave when passing on the road. Can't imagine fiesta or 3 series owners doing this as they would get repetitive strain injuries but wondered if this is something other marques also experience?

When I am in the RX-7, RX-8 owners will also flash and give a wave.

But when I am in the X-8, other '8 owners ignore me!

I've experienced this from the age of 4 or 5 as we've always had Minis!

We Land Rover Series 1/2/2A/3 and Defender drivers wave to each other... Discovery/Freelander/FFRR owners wave if they've also owned/own a Series or Defender.
If you're out in your Land Rover and a car waves hello it's because the car owner has got a Land Rover and has waved from habit smile (or something's just fallen off and he's trying to let you know wink)

Assuming 'proper' minis as opposed to the new ones?

Get it a lot with other Corrado owners (on the rare occasion I see one) and from folks who own VW's of the same sort of era smile

All of my cars have had this to an extent. In the MG just about all other drivers of classic MGs would wave; The Corrado maybe 50% of other Corrado drivers; the Elise something like 95% of Lotus drivers.

Well assumed.
I'd sooner st in my hands and clap than own a BMW MINI, let alone wave to other mug, I mean owner.

Elise drivers definitely do. I remember having custody of an Elise for a while and always getting a flash or a cheery wave from other Elise drivers.

Used to happen occasionally in the MX-5 as well.

My dad has a T2 VW camper, and all other camper and air-cooled Beetle drivers wave.

Had it in my S1 106 Rallye and my 205 gti.

Find it a bit strange if I'm honest!

MX-5s would almost invariably wave if they had the roof down when it could be described as anything but lovely weather, especially MK1's

In the Westfield I get a small wave or nod from all sorts. Caterhams, other Westfields, Elises, Morgans, TVRs and the odd bike. In the BMW nothing unsurprisingly. Docudrama ST225 owners seem to wave occasionally though.

In the Disco wave to Defenders and the older Series motors... they will usually wave back

I also have a mk1 eunos and I found mx5/eunos drivers never gave a wave so gave up in the end.

yes it's generallya short, nervous wave, though, as you really don't want to let go of the wheel for too long!!

Morgan's wave at Morgan's, and often at anything else interesting out there, and it usually waves back. Just makes driving that bit more friendly..

This is very messy, can end up over your windows and dash and not very nice for the person next to you either, also a right ba5tard to scrape out of air vents (essential)..

hehe or I grip the top of the wheel with thumb and forefinger whilst waving with the other three fingers... although that's harder to spot from a distance smile
