When did you pass your driving test?

So, for some of us it's not all that long ago.. For some of us we've not passed it yet, and for some of us it's a very long time ago

For me.. I passed September 11th 2008 - 5 years ago today.

When did you pass yours?
Do you remember it?

Passed in 1984 in my instructor's red Toyota Corolla saloon. The thing I remember was stalling at a set of traffic lights. I was convinced I'd fail because of that but I didn't. First time, too.

September 15th 2003, so 10 years in 4 days

Sometime in 1973, in a Morris 1100, in Wells, Somerset.

1989 at the age of 18. First time pass, no lessons.

I passed first time in my driving instructors blue 307, '52' plate.

The horn didn't work when the examiner asked me to show him where and when I'd use it.. My instructor was hitting it, smashing it, checking fuses, pulling things out, eventually it worked somehow and we carried on the test.

Came round a bend to find a lorry blocking the road, dealt with it and the examiner said it didn't even seem to phase me, where as others would have paniced.

Got home, sorted insurance on my C2 out and went for a drive with my brother. Felt amazing

September 1995 in a diesel Corsa A. 3 minors, which I thought was ok considering I was going around a one way system, single lane, to find three blokes pushing a broken down Transit towards me.

Passed first time in 1998, in that classic driving school car the K11 Nissan Micra.

20 years ago, aged 18, second time around. I was too skint to pay for lessons at 17 so had to save up for a while!
Did IAM a couple of years later as I was convinced I wasn't "good" enough at driving to run my second car (more or less given to me), a mk2 Golf GTi.

Late July 2011 so I'm entitled to the full set of points now. Champion. And passed first time.

I was driving a Vauxhall Corsa, and I remember most of the test, even vaugely the route. I remember I was on King's Hedges Road (a fairly busy road to the North of Cambridge) and the instructor asked me to pull up immediately and put the handbrake on. I st myself thinking 'I can't have failed already'.
He asked me if I would like to continue the test with the driver's door open or if I'd prefer to shut it

I was convinced that this incident was enough for me to fail, so was pretty relaxed for the rest of the test and passed with 4 minors.

Last month I passed the Taxi test, and funnily enough got exactly the same amount of minors as I did in my first driving test.

That either means I've not improved at all since then, or I've always been a bloody amazing driver. Let's just go with the latter as this is PH!

Applied on my 17th birthday (13th September), wait in those days was a nightmare!

7th Aug 1996, first time, 18 days after my 17th birthday.

Had a glass of red wine to steady the nerves before hand.

Worked a treat, Passed first time (after just 7 lessons)

One of my all time favourite sights was watching the Anglia 105E and Mini Coopers racing at Brands Hatch.

Passed my driving test at Wallington in Surrey , March 1966 in an Austin A 40 . Ten questions were asked relating to driving in general, when not to overtake , sequence of traffic lights, braking distance from 30 mph to halt, etc etc.

Bike test passed March 1964.

July 1982 at the age of 17. Passed first time in my instructors mini. I had 6 lessons with the instructor the rest were with my Dad learning in his Morris Ital. By the time I did my test I had loads of miles under my belt as I have 10 months worth of driving from Coventry to Hamble and back every weekend.

July 3rd 2008 at the ripe old age of 24... left it a bit late

Passed first time in my instructors Xreg Fiesta LX diesel and got a minor for 'use of speed' (speeding )

ETA I just found the green sheet from my test (along with the blue pass certificate your handed after the test) 11 Minors
