Alternatives to an Audi TT?
Discussion
Not quite a what car thread, but i am just surprised there are no other similar coupes, especially with AWD. Know they don't get a great reputation on here but there seem to be lots of positives for the little Audi.
Positives:
Stylish interior
Quattro (great for winter and a real selling point I believe)
225bhp
decent 0-60
30mpg
Negatives:
Might as well be a 2 seater

I'm sorry but looking for a sports car that's not RWD sounds whimpy.
It's not a sports car though, it's a coupe and it's more of a GT. I quite like them, for what they are. They are comfortable, and cover ground quickly and easily. They're also pretty practical too. If you're after thrills, look elsewhere. The TT is a fairly decent jack of all trades, and master of none, but it is a good compromise for many.Baryonyx said:

I think this is probably the issue. Of course there are better sports cars and for a similar budget, the 3.0 Z4 is probably top of that list, but as a comfortable GT cruiser, it seems to occupy a niche.CaptainSensib1e said:
370Z or Cayman? I wouldn't get too hung up on AWD, driving RWD in the snow will make you a much better driver!
I don't know why either of these cars continually pop up in lists of cars to compare to the TT. No doubt they are great cars, but one is a muscular GT and the other is a canny sports car. But the 370Z will suffer massive depreciation and high running costs, and the Porsche will have high servicing costs, stiff fuel costs and if you're unlucky, iffy reliability. The TT isn't particularly reliable, but should be cheaper to run and service than either of the other two cars. I do like the old TT (I hate the new ones). It's hard to suggest one stylish GT coupe that ticks as many boxes for as people as the TT does. Of course, were I spending the sort of cash that would get me into a Cayman I wouldn't look twice at the TT!

I suspect the AWD aspect comes from the fact Audi wanted to sell in a higher market than most other coupes from the likes of Ford, Vauxhall and Toyota. At that price point (at the time) FWD was much more of a no no. It also helped keep in with the Audi AWD marketing spiel.Positives:

I agree the TT looks nice. However a 2 door classic Impreza STI is a much better performance vehicle.

I've had many a discussion on it.
If you want to take a quick look on auto trader at similar mileage 3 - 4 year old TTs or 370z and you'll see the TT has depreciated more.
What makes you think the 370z has suffered massive depreciation versus TT because looking at online values (which is all we can go off) seems to suggest otherwise?
I take it the OP is considering the MkI TT as he says 225bhp?
May not be a great comparison with the likes of a Cayman & 370z; there would be a huge price difference.
As for the MkI TT (if that is what's being suggested); they have flaws if you view them as a sportscar but as said, they are a GT car and IMHO are a great everyday car.
I ran one for 4.5 years and would have another.
As an alternative, I'd look at something like a Z4 (but no rear seats) or a 350z (not great in build quality compared to a TT).
