Crashing in towns or on the motorway - and bad driving
Discussion
I’m a keen climber/kayaker/swimmer/driver who’s lived in London now for two years and can't wait to leave. As a consequence of my disdain for the city I spend most weekends driving back and forward to Wiltshire/Dorset from London.
Now, as I'm sure many of you have noticed, the standard of driving in London is absolutely shocking (in fact I have a story from just the other night that I'll put in a p.s); the number of crashes is ludicrous. On a single Friday night I see more instances of stupid/impatient/bad/angry driving in South London heading for the A3 than I'd have thought possible in a country like the UK with strict driving laws and education. Stupid drivers packed together result in crashes and delays.
It's definitely not over once/if you make it to the A3/M25. Things stay pretty terrible with tailgaters/people undertaking in the next lane at large speed deltas while cutting in and out. As the M3/A303 approach things get slightly better but not by much. Inevitably there's a crash and inevitably there are delays.
Now here's the point of the post: if you're driving safely then how do you crash in a 30 - you should be able to stop in no time. Likewise for a motorway - it's a straight and wide road! If you’re driving legally and observantly, and assuming the car doesn’t fail, how do you crash?
So, I personally feel that should you end up crashing in a town or on a motorway and you are at fault then you also should retake your test – because there’s no reason for it to happen. Why isn’t this the case?
End of rant!

p.s. story I was referring to was my flatmate telling me he’d been woken up twice in one week at 5am by a car revving it’s nuts off and grinding its gears trying to get out of its parking space. A few nights later I was flicking through the internet at 1030pm and heard a car struggling to park, the same flatmate comes telling me to watch the offender. We watched the driver struggle for five or ten minutes with great entertainment until it became clear she was definitely not going to be able to parallel park in the 2 car length space. A car had approached and she had to head to the end of the road to let it past. She then failed a three point turn in a driveway to come back to try to park again – regularly stalling and grinding gears. It was beginning to get painful so I went to help her. When I arrived she said ‘thank you but she has to learn’ – I agree, she does have to learn. But the public road is not a place to learn basic car control. Either way she was already flustered so I gave her clear instructions and we got her to a point where the front wheel was on the pavement and the rear about a foot from the curb. She was happy with this and left it there. How is this person on the road? The mind boggles.

Haha! Yeah, I've seen that before. This person was as bad, no joke. As I said, it was so bad it lost it's funny factor and turned scary as I realised you/I share a road with her.If you have an accident before an emergency service is aware the if you have a trip or fall or accident person telling you about the iPad and 1500 up front you will get so people don't care any more
In their little tin boxes with a million driver and safety aids they are immune to the read world
As for lady not being able to drive or park, I am sure she has a pretty friend who can who took the test for her ....
