So, I have some totally shocking and downright dangerous in the wet Wanli tyres on my polo.

after driving it around for a week nearly and it raining a fair bit, i fed up with only using less than an inch pulling away and getting wheel spin.

having looked on black circles, they have come up with something with a 'B' rating with grip and at only 38 quid a corner I thought quite a good deal, but I know nothing about car tyres.

these are the tyres in question...

I had kumhos on my Mazda and they were brilliant, can't fault them in any way.

Iv got kumho solus on my Daimler and although they are a tad noisy at times they are brilliant good grip in the wet and dry and not badly priced either.

Used KU31s and KW17s on a variety of cars and never had anything to complain about smile

Kumhos are generally well respected and sound as a pound for most cars out there.

aah, ok, so they are ok on grip but a bit noisy, the rating said that on BC that they were noisy but good grip, and i do need something with decent wet grip as the wanli's i have on at the moment are actually dangerous

If there are any, I bet they're all PHers.

Had them on my 540i and didn't spin off the road backwards to a fiery death in a hedgerow.

I don't have a Daimler - I do have a Jaguar on Falkens.

I don't have a Daimler but I do have Kumhos on my old Beemer. They are fine, but a recent puncture on one led to me having to replace two of them as the type I had are no longer manufactured and I can't mix tread patterns on an axle. So don't get an 'old' model Kumho, or anything else for that matter, even on your Daimler.

I've got a couple of part worn Kumho out in the shed..

Might have to buy a Daimler to try them on.

Daimler, I don't have. Used to have Wanlis on Supra and even though they are new they are horrible in the wet.

I've used Khumo Ecsta Le Sport KU39s they have been great, really good wear and good grip.

I once saw a Daimler too.

Is that a Daimler-Benz SL?

Yup kumhos make good mid range tyres. Used them many times.

Btw, go direct to the garage you want them fit at. You'll likely save a few quid per corner and help fund a local business rather than a bunch of sales and admin people in an office somewhere.

I have used Kumho Ecstas KU31s on many cars from my old Camaro Z28 to my current Fiesta ST. they are a very good mid-range tyre but useless in snow, so be warned. I took them off my Golf GTI and fitted something that could cope with the snow a bit better (not winter tyres).

They're cheap and they grip, but don't expect massive life out of them. I had some which came with an old au pair mobile - a mighty Fiesta 1.25 got through barely worn front tyres in just 10000 miles, which for a low-power, gently driven car wasn't great.

Strange, I've already done 24k on my set (switching front to rear half way through) and I reckon they'll comfortably get to 30k. That's in a front heavy FWD volvo.
