is this tyre ok?

the rules on MOT's an tyres confuse me. its wearing low on the inside shoulder but is fine elsewhere.

I would replace it, check it with a tyre depth gauge and make your own decision.

It needs to be 1.6mm across the centre, 3/4 of the total width IIRC.

I believe that's basically the tread between the inner and outer wear bars.

If it's only about passing an MoT, then that tyre is fine...about 3mm across all areas, some a bit more and above wear indicators.

The lateral grooves on the edges don't appear to be cut as deep as the grooves containing the wear bar indicators, so for MOT purposes it isn't considered as part of the tread pattern. That's a pass all day long.
