Looks like a lot of car, pretty economical, loads of toys and shouldn't cost a fortune to run.

I know the gearing isn't ideal, but other than that there seem to be few complaints about these cars.

Buying from a main dealer appeals to me and I'd imagine that this thing should be good for 150k miles if looked after.

Thoughts from the experts on here will be very much appreciated.

p.s - It's this, maybe a three series, possibly a well-specced Volvo, or a Nissan Leaf!

I'd buy the Lexus instead of the Leaf, When I think of that shape IS, I think of Alan Partridge and his Japanese Mercedes. Not a great help I know.

It does indeed look a lot of car for the money.

You really can`t go wrong buying from a Lexus dealer either, they are very good at customer service.

Must admit, the Partridge thing is a HUGE reason to go for it.

Looked very seriously at the Leaf. I can get a brand new Acenta model for £16,800 but I just can't quite make the sums add up.

Nice car, but a lot of money for an eight-year-old car (even if it looks like half that).

I was amazed when I read 2006 55 - these have aged well!

That's odd considering he drove the original shape IS wink

Two things

(a) known for head gasket failure

(b) willfully over priced. Heres an 09 car with FLSH for a few pounds more

Hmm, it does appear costly at the side of this one. I originally thought it was good value.

The newer one doesn't have SatNav or the fab sound system, it's not from a main dealer, and it's covered slightly more miles. It's also £500 more. I grant you it's a lot newer but I'm not fussed by age as long as history and miles are OK.

I also love the red colour of the one I'm thinking of buying.

I'm not going to pay more than £8k for it either, so if they won't sell it at that price I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the help so far everyone.

Was just throwing it out there relative to price - you're paying a serious premium there and if its worth £2,000 - £3,000 more to you than it might othewise be, then great.

I guess if you are going to drive it forever then no worries, but you will take a serious bath on that car if you were to try to sell on in a couple of years.
