http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1992K-TOYOTA-CARINA-E-GT...

It looks tidy and all, but £1500 with 4 days to go for a Carina with 131k on it? Didn't see that one coming.

I think Carinas have a certain following because of a rep for excellent reliability. I know a couple of people who wouldn't part with their Carina IIs for anything.

If I had the money I would buy that.

As they are super reliable, and the model in question is a rare GTI with 158bhp.

In a desirable red colour and its a saloon. I personally think that looks gorgeous. There are 2 other's for sale on gumtree!!

Think the one for £1000 should be SOTW!

The carina e is a fantastic car. Seriously under-rated.

I was given an E estate (110,000 on the clock)a few years back. Hadn't moved for 18 months, but had passed it's last MOT. I scraped the green off the windows, put air in the tyres & it jumpstarted first touch! Passed Mot with an ebay £9 headlamp. Ran it for 9 months (8000m)cost nothing in parts etc, & gave it to my builder as part payment for a job. He ran it until it needed new tyres & passed it on! Probably minicabbing in Coventry now!

My sister had one from my uncle, a 1.6 estate. £300 if I remember correctly. Every chance I got, I was behind the wheel of it. It would never win any beauty pageants, but the drive was sublime.

One of my best mates owned an automatic one as a uni car. One of the least reliable vehicles I've ever had the misfortune to be exposed to despite having full service history and doing about 3,000 miles in a year. Eventually scrapped due to a catastrophic gearbox failure.
