Might be interesting...

My personal biggest payout was a fault claim where the insurance company paid out £5,000 for whiplash. The bloke had mounted a curb to avoid me, no contact! Sadly the company paid out without even contacting me or my employer, and it was not until a couple of years later that I discovered when trying to establish my NCB history.

Highest I've heard of was £25,000 when my mother managed to reverse into a clients Brand New Porsche 911 Turbo. He went a little red!

Over to you, I'm sure you can do better....

I'd be interested to hear some other peoples payouts too... I have only had one and not sure where it lies in the scale. It was for a serious head on collision that was technically my fault.

I got four grand when a taxi ran into the back of a bus in town. I wasn't even on the bus at the time, bought my mate's ticket off him for £20.

Am I doing this right?

Someone rear ended my Mini on the M8 motorway a few years back. Think the total was about £3500 to fix it. It gutted the entire exhaust system.

Nothing significant myself, but does the record go to Gary Hart? he fell asleep while driving his Land Rover, drove off the M62 at a point where the East Coast mainline wasn't protected causing the Great Heck Rail crash and a £22 Million payout by his insurers.

Friend of mine had a 7 figure payout after 6 years of legal battles, health assessments etc. Crash between a motorbike (him) and a 4x4 (which turned across his path without seeing him) effectively ended his highly paid career. He was in a bad way for a long time. The payout reflected the loss of future earnings.

I suspect Rowan Atkinson's most recent claim on his Maclaren F1 may be a winner.

In my youth I ran into the back of someone on the M6 (yeah, even I'm not perfect).

Car repair was about £8k for both in total plus 6 whiplash claims (3 in my car, 2 in the one I hit). Think the total came to just under £30k for that.

I'm not sure if the authorities or highways agency claim anything for having the motorway closed and cleared though.

Claims involved in or heard of?
Also does personal injury count as I think I may just win (Unless R1Loon pops up)

Involved in, I think.

£160,000 for the Lambo above is winning so far.

I think I might have to get mine off my chest, I've never posted about it on here.

Didn't Rowan pay for quite a significant chunk of the repair himself?

Vehicle damage possibly, injury and associated costs not even close.

Although expensive to get his f1 repaired, I suspect the poster 3 above has got it nailed on.

Depends what you count as a "vehicle" - the insurers at Great Heck had to pay out for a complete written off East Coast express train (probably several million, EDIT - the locomotive was fixable though) and a brand new diesel freight locomotive probably worth about £2.5m plus a load of wagons.

Even at 2.5 million it doesn't come close to injury but yeah that easily exceeds the F1
Lets limit it to UK road legal motor vehicles hehe

(I await a picture of a train driving down a street laugh )
