Something similar happened to me, renewal of policy was twice the old premium, I asked them to requote, they said that was their best offer so I went with someone else. 2 days before the policy expired they offered me roughly the same deal via email.

If they'd looked at what quotes I was getting, and I had emails/screenshots, they could have stopped me walking off somewhere else for no good reason

I am just a bit hacked off that I am going to have to walk away from my policy and lose out on my additional 1 years no claims. I really do not want to but I am certainly not paying a premium to keep it.

I've insured with them but do find them a pain.

I wish I had £1 for every time they ask me to return the proof of NCB when I already have and ask for the supplemental information form.

Drives me nuts!

Flux have never been competitive for me, but it sounds a lot like you were getting ripped-off for a mid-policy change of vehicle. That said, I guess an M135i is quite a considerably higher risk car than a Ford Ka and an increase should have been anticipated...

Out of interest, what would it cost you to just continue paying the last 2 months of the insurance on the Ka? Could you not get temporary cover on the BMW and then start a new policy complete with additional NCB in 2 months?

Is it not rather simple, you took out a insurance policy, a contract on one set of terms and then you wanted to make changes to it and you seem surprised that you don't get the same terms as someone who is starting a new contract on different terms.

Did you ever run a quote for a whole year on the KA and find it was far more than £100 less than the 330?

One other point, you even say it yourself that your insurance is with Red Star, Adrian Flux is the broker - so why not have a rant at Red Star!
