I thought my new 350Z was louder than normal, I suspected an exhaust blow and with the other little niggles got it for a song considering its low mileage and FSH.

Anyway, had a root round underneath last night and as usual with the 250Z the exhaust has snapped where it meets with the back box, new system duly ordered but am wondering, other than the frankly epic racket it makes, what else will it affect ?

I have read on here that exhausts on N/A car forage, scavenge or something, what does that mean, is my exhuast not now opportunisitically gathering nuts and berries as I drive or something ? am I losing power and economy (all relative on a 350Z) despite the Days of Thunder soundtrack ?

Yes you'll probably be running lean which means the ECU (if it has any complexity at all) will be trying to compensate, upping the amount of fuel burned. This would probably destroy any fuel economy the car has.

What new system have you ordered, and how much is it costing?

The wife's 350Z has been gradually getting louder and louder. It passed its last MOT with an advisory about it. Trouble is, she doesn't want it making too quiet, so I guess we'll have to get something a bit fruitier from the aftermarket.

Doubtful, as being at the backbox it's a long way from the exhaust ports etc. There may be a small effect on the back-pressure, but it won't be seriously affecting anything. Think of it like a performance exhaust!

Cobra Resonated, was £430 delivered, back box and mid section, seems to get decent reviews.

Ordered from Cougarstore.co.uk uk (Sounds much more interesting than it actually is) ordered last night and got a PM on the 350Z forum asking me to choose a tailpipe design, seems like top service.

Someone suggested a Milltek but at £1296 it is expensive, especially when a divorce is factored into the equation, not spending a sixth of the price of the car on a bloody exhaust !

Yeah, it does sound impressive, a six cylinder and above, maybe a five can carry off a broken exhaust better than a four which either sounds like a young lads Corsa or something thats escaped fromt he banger track.

Still its a bit anti social, gave it a blip and got evils off the security guard at work
