Afternoon All,

I will get to the point, as some opinions may help this decision along.

Have owned my MK5 R32 Manual for a very short while (not even 2 months!) was purchased from main dealer and is an extremely clean example (I viewed many cars before seeing one as 'good' as this)

Shortly after taking ownership, I did start to hear a little knock/click/clunk when changing gear at lower speeds, and took it straight back to the dealer for diagnosis. To cut a long story short, after visits to 3 main dealers , I have not received a clear answer as to what the noise is, just that it is not a problem, more a behaviour of this model, and I need to adjust my driving style :S.

Possible reasons for noise so far have been as follows:
Gearbox chudder
Car 'taking up drive'
I am trying to shift too quickly

Dealers remain adament there is no issue with the car, but in all honesty, I am not convinced. I have never heard a noise like this before - maybe you would expect it from something a little more raw, e.g a impreza or an evo, but not a golf. The dealers assure me that if anything does happen in that area of the car, it will be repaired - but in the meantime, I have to be a little unsure about the car and am not so sure I can put up with this noise in a VW Golf. The car was a bit of a compromise for me, and I went to main dealers so I am protected and have a bit of comeback in a situation like this (a good job too!)

Googling mk5 manual r32 gearchange noise - there do seem to be some other reports very similar to mine - but again, I am not convinced.

I have received a very good offer in the car for it to be gone and am considering taking this today, and beginning the hunt for a replacement car which will perhaps bring me a few more smiles and less of a headache - namely an escort rs cosworth (opinions on this also welcome!)

Any advice or thoughts, or expereinces with MK5 R32 manuals would be great!
