Hi

I'm going to have to buy a set of rear tyres for my V8V. Ive noticed that a standard set of 275 35 19 96y are a lot cheaper than those with AM9 on the end ( 275 35 19 96y AM9).

Does anyone know if my insurance will be valid if I put the standard 275 35 19 96y or does it have to have the AM9?

What does the AM9 actually mean? (porsche has N1, Merc has Mo and Ferrari has Ferrari)

thanks

Dhil

It means Aston and Bridgestone worked together for a while to come up with a tyre that works for the Vantage in a way that both manufacturers are happy with.
You may have different requirements for a tyre and might wish to experiment with other brands to see which type suits your needs. Other owners have done such a thing and their experiences can be found on Aston Martin section of PH.

If you put tyres on your car that are the right size it's legal, no matter.

I would have thought so, yes. Otherwise you'd no doubt have all sorts of anti-competition people hopping around.

Yup, I've never heard of insurance demanding that OEM tyres are fitted. As long as they're the same size and are not a lower speed or load rating you'll be fine.

They also have to be the same load and speed indices - or higher than - the original tyres fitted from factory.

Yep, fitting a lower speed rating could invalidate you're insurance.
