Diesel or petrol?
I had a 500 as a daily for a few years, the face lifted one.
it drove really well, although plenty will tell you they drive like poo.
They all suffer from poor fuel consumption, petrol diesel 270, 55.
Because of this I was advised by the mboc to buy any model.
My plan was to go for the amg, but I needed 7 seats so next best was the 500.
Comand wouldn't play films in the front telly, accelerator module box thing crapped out, other than that it was comfortable fast and faultless. Liked a drink though.

We had a petrol ML320 (2000 mdl) a few years back and it was with any question the most unreliable car we have EVER had and spent weeks, if not months in total back in Mercedes in our 9 (ish)months of ownership - I'm told it was a South American Built one - hence the issues.
It got so bad that when presented with one bill following a service plus at the MB main dealer in Crawley I voiced my dis-pleasure and was asked to leave the showroom!
After that comment I left the dealership and drove straight to Volvo and bought an XC90.
It was hideous
