Right possibly a stupid question but as above.... Is it a stupid to remove a full wrap myself or should I have it professionally removed ? Obviously I wouldn't fit a full wrap but surely removing is just a case of removing any parts / trim / bumpers necessary ( all within my capability ) and then taking ur time with hot air gun or more likely a hair dryer to be safe and some tardiss to remove any glue then a machine polish, or am I being tight and naive ?

If you were wondering I bought a car wrapped and was going to leave it over the winter but after driving around today and the amount of looks I got driving around in a Matt black car, well let's just say its comming off.

Don't make it look worse! Now it's getting darker, leave it on. No one will see, especially when covered in salt over winter. Anyway does other people's opinion matter so much?

Paint could be knackered underneath.

Yeah it's pretty much impossible to avoid marking the paint, are you sure you want to remove it?

I, a bit scared haha. The paint is supposedly good. I have seen the guys RS4 which was also wrapped and removed before sale and the black paint was immaculate so fingers crossed.

I would say that now is precisely the WRONG time to remove it. Let it run over the winter on as it gives the paint underneath more protection, then in spring do a proper job removing and detailing to get the showroom finish back.
Presumably you like the look so who cares what others may think .
Set of winters on steels might look even better!

If you really want to remove it set aside the whole weekend. It's a real bh. You might get lucky and it come off easily or you might do one side and get to the other and it's coming off in 3mm long pieces. This is what happened on my mates van, we gave up and sent it back to the place that fitted it and they charged £200 + vat. For one side remember.
All you can do is have a go but bare in mind if you start you can't stop!

Cheers for the opinions guys, as said its worth ago & worst case it will go to the people who fitted it to be removed.
I don't hate the Matt black but it's not really my taste tbh, I bought the car as a good deal could be had, it was the right spec & underneath the colour combo I wanted.

It sort of make sense if you want a very expensive car in a very lairy colour, as it'll be reversible unlike spraying. Matt black cars, however, only looked cool for about a month, six years ago.

Still, as suggested above OP should just think of it as protection over the winter.

Well it wasn't my taste and I bought the car with the plan to have it removed anyway but despite some trepidation & some of your warnings I thought I can always abandon and give in if it was a nightmare and went for it ! ......... All was ok smile

Remarkably, I find myself liking the wrapped car almost as much as the unwrapped one.

That looks much better off. Fair play to you - I wouldn't even have considered buying a wrapped car, and certainly not one in matt black.

I literally cannot understand anyone who wraps a car.

It's close to the top of the: "Look, there's a wker" list.
