Thoughtless idiots in car parks...
Discussion
..seem to think its fine to bash against my car!
Was in local shopping centre car park, nipped into bank to get coin bags and baker for my lunch.
Came back to car with said pie n bags to find the evoque that was parked in the bay next to mine was gone and there was a large black scrape mark along the edge of my back bumper and its been moved about 5mm in.
Thankfully no metal work has been dented, I still can't fathom how the driver did it, as there was a good 1.5' between my car and theirs, both cars were straight and to pull away to get out of the bay the evoque would have had to turn away from my car.
What I think they did was turn the wheels slightly right to get a big turning circle coming out and basically bumped into the back of my 350.
My car was facing inwards the evoque was facing front out if that makes sense.
I then smacked my head\ear off my window as I slipped on gravel getting in the car, so now feel sick and not in the best humour.
Hopefully should polish out most of it (yes T cut will help in this case) but the paint has been chipped off on the edge of the wheelarch.

1.5' - that IMO is "tight" and I certainly wouldn't be putting my car in a space with that kind of access, and no way at all ever ever ever if it was next to a 4x4 or big daft kiddie car. It's one of the issues I have with the car park right outside my office in Leeds - carp ark man squeezes everyone in very close - so close that peds bang the mirrors trying to walk between them. I've had stand up rows with the attendant there about how close he wants cars. I now pay an extra couple of quid a day to park somewhere "nice" with decent sized fully marked bays and a proper security man.
I hate public car parks with a passion.

Unfortunately, was only space left, used car park for years and never had anyone touch any of my cars, also car park spaces have remained the same since about the 80's, issue is while cars are still small enough to get in and out of them, getting doors open is more of a concern. Its more the fact that the only way the evoque could have touched my car was to drive turning right before turning left out of the space, i.e. basically drive into my car on a whim.It could have been a lot worse and I usually park away from child\parent spaces, busy areas etc but unfortunately I had to get to bank today and could only do it at lunch time.
Hopefully I can get most of it out with DA polisher

Feel your pain - Our car (an Evoque, ironcially) has got a door chip by some thankless t
t in some other car who opened his car door too wide.
Happens all the time in car parks. Both of our daily cars have been dinted/chipped by nobbers who don't know how to get in and out of spaces without using other peoples cars as a resting post.
The solution is for everyone to only ever shop at CostCo. There car parks are the correct width.
Unrelated but the Beckham link was possibly the strongest reason for us to NOT buy an Evoque. Thankfully the cars own merits outshone that daft marketing association on an otherwise impeccible car.

As a rule, I always take my little Gaymobile (a Smart) to supermarkets and cinema etc, but if I'm in my SL I'll do the obnoxious tosser thing and take up two spaces by straddling the markings. Selfish I know, but it'll be in a distant corner of the car park so everyone can go f
k themselves.

Love people like you, lets me practise parking the passenger side of my shed as close to the drivers door of your precious car as possible

I can never understand the mentality of people in car parks. Its as though they either have to get as close to the door as possible , even if its impossible for them to exit their car without hitting another one. Or , at all costs they have to park next to another car. I always park where there are loads of spaces and without fail someone has parked next to me by then time i return? WTF? Do they think their car is going to get lonely while theyre away?
When I first got my impreza I took it everywhere! Unfortunately the doors are made of paper and now I have got 3 clear dents down one side, Never again! That's what the mrs beetle is for! Good luck denting that
Tossers mate, don't take her to a public carpark ever again! It's not worth the stress then anger.
Got to leave ours in an airport car park next week, Always shocked at how many reversed into cars I see there

I've been known to go out, enter a carpark and if I can't find a bay I'm comfortable with from a defensive parking stance, leave and return another day.
My local Sainsbury's has a two level carpark and the upper level is rarely used - I always go there and park at the very farthest point from the entrance in a bay I now consider 'mine' as I have used it every time I shop there for the last 4 years. It is at the end with a lamp post between it and the next bay allowing more width should someone park next to me. But thankfully no-one has - I deliberately shop at off-peak times too.
The last negligent or deliberate damage to any of my cars was to the Evoque I had for a year a while back - it was keyed in a carpark at a botanical garden my wife and I visited.
Now I'm shopping around for an old Defender or Freelander 2 as a 3rd car that I can take in carparks etc for shopping/winter use. I'll still park away from everyone but be less worried.
