Driving home the other night, I followed a red Golf, that clearly indicated as he went round the traffic island to the right, as I went straight over in the same lane.

The car coming straight over the island from the other direction nearly took him out as they didn't stop at the junction.

In that situation, had he hit him, what should I have done? I couldn't stop easily, it is a duel carriageway; the next junction is 3 miles away; there is a layby after about a mile & I had a car very close behind me (he wouldn't have been able to stop without hitting me if I had, lets put it that way!).

Obviously, I would have called the Police & given my details, but

Should I have gone to the next junction & come back?
Stopped anyway?

I'd try and stop/ turn around when safe or convenient, also if I was on the receiving end of such a crash I'd hope that if someone could help me to prove I was right that they would take that opportunity.

I once looped around the block after seeing a blatant brake test then rear end shunt accident.

Audi brake tested ,car behind hit by a 3rd car.

I'd have gone back and if nothing else given my details as a witness. Nothing worse as an injured party finding the accused suddenly says its your fault and you've got no witnesses.

Help the dudes/dudettes out if you can.

yes I'd go back, but what should I do legally? Stop straight away?

Legally you don't have to do anything.

Stopping as a witness is done to help the innocent party out.

No witness, can't prove who was to blame in a lot of cases as liars are common.

Super smile

I'd do the moral thing no problem, it was the legal aspect if stopping in that situation that was on my mind
