Brilliant adverts with numberplate blocking

I don't understand the point of obscuring number plates when posting photos of cars. Thousands of people see it every day and I expect at least 1 ANPR camera or police car reads it. It also helps potential buyers get an insurance quote if they are thinking of buying the car.
If I decided I didn't want to tax/MOT my car anymore, I could just find pictures from a forum of another blue 3 series coupe, and get their numberplate made up and stick it on my car. Providing this other car was all legal, of course.£20-30 is enough to get numberplates ordered online, no questions asked.

Try £10, but then hundreds of people see your number plate on the road daily...£20-30 is enough to get numberplates ordered online, no questions asked.
